Our immune system protects us against diseases. A key component of this defense is the so called killer T-cells. These specialized immune cells detect and eliminate cells that are infected by viruses or have transformed into cancer cells.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, the Principal Investigators (PIs) of the Immunology Department came together for a full-day retreat at the historic Kasteel Oud Poelgeest. This was the first IMMU staff retreat under the leadership of Professor Hermelijn Smits, who assumed the headship of the department on January 1, 2025.
