This symposium was organized by a committee comprising members of the Department of Immunology (Trouw) and other departments in the Theme Immunity (Everts, van der Hoorn, Joosten, van Kooten, van Montfoort). During the day we hosted senior invited speakers highlighting the past achievements and junior scientists showcasing the current developments in Immunology that are ongoing in the LUMC.
Next to a vivid poster-session we also hosted a debate session addressing the important questions, what does immunology look like 30 years from now and how do we train students optimally to be ready for the future. In addition in a debate between senior LUMC staff and representatives of the Leiden BioScience Park (LSBP) we addressed the question what does the future look like for Immunology in Leiden and how can we optimize interactions between LUMC and LBSP. During the symposium it became clear that there are talented students ready to take on the future challenges, that there are very interesting research lines that will have impact on the future healthcare and that there are plenty of opportunities to align efforts between LUMC and LBSP to shape the future.
