PhD student receives first prize for poster presentation

Jorn Stok, a PhD student in the group of Annemarthe van der Veen, received a first prize for his poster presentation at the EMBO Workshop 'Pathogen Immunity & Infection' that was held in Venice from 8-12 April.

His poster was entitled ‘Vault RNAs are upregulated upon diverse viral infections and enhance viral replication’. The poster prize was sponsored by Disease Models and Mechanisms, one of the daughter journals from the Company of Biologists.

This biannual EMBO Workshop was co-organised by Annemarthe van der Veen (Leiden), Matteo Iannacone (Milan), Jan Rehwinkel (Oxford), Nicolas Manel (Paris), Mads Gyrd-Hansen (Copenhagen) and Ana Kajaste-Rutnitski (Milan). The meeting aimed to bring together top scientists engaged in diverse aspects of pathogen immunity and to discuss cutting edge advancements in the understanding of antimicrobial defense mechanisms.
