PhD defense – Jorn Stok (Van der Veen Group)

On May 8, Jorn Stok, from the group of Annemarthe van der Veen, successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “Sensing and sensibility: the role of non-coding RNA in autoinflammation and viral infection” at the Academy Building in Leiden.

He engaged in a lively and insightful discussion with the committee and was awarded his doctorate.  Jorn is continuing his academic journey as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Dr. Helen Rowe at the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London, where he will focus on epigenetic mechanisms and interferon responses in the context of cancer.
