Research

Since April 2025 I have been working as a research technician at LUMC in the department Immunology under supervision of Willianne Hoepel. I am involved in several projects where the research focusses on antibody glycosylation in relation to respiratory infections. In particular, I study the effect of antibody glycosylation on cytokine production of human derived myeloid cells using ELISA. I use primary bronchial cells to study the pathophysiology of asthma. And in collaboration with the Centre for Proteins and Metabolomics (CPM), I analyze the IgG glycosylation in the serum of patients with severe asthma, using LC-MS. In addition, I’m involved in several clinical trials such as GLADBio and AVAGE, where I’m responsible for sample processing, maintaining the database and analyzation of the results.

Curriculum Vitae

I obtained my bachelor of Science degree at AVANS university of applied sciences in Breda. During this study I performed two research internships at Erasmus MC Rotterdam, investigating prognostic factors of uveal melanoma. After my bachelor, I continued to obtain my Master of Science degree in Medical Biology at Radboud University. I did my first master internship at the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS), where I studied the interaction between ARL15 and CNNM2. My second master internship was at the department Pathology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), studying the tumor immune microenvironment of osteosarcoma. After graduating my Masters I worked for two years in the lab of prof. Ramon Arens as a research technician examining the underlying mechanisms of immunity and vaccines against (chronic) infections and malignancies. Since April 1st 2025, I work as a research technician with Dr. Willianne Hoepel on her project funded by Longfonds and VENI.
