RESEARCH

As a research technician in the Stem Cell and Lymphocyte Development/ Staal group
I contribute to the RAG1 clinical project, to help cure severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). Both gene therapy on stem cells, hence correcting the disease-causing mutation in RAG1, and follow-up testing of lymphocyte development is part of the job. I find this combination of research and applied science very interesting and valuable.

CURRICULUM VITAE

I have a Master of Science degree after studying Biology at the Leiden University, with a focus on Medical Biology. During my studies I explored various aspects of biology, from animal behavior to morphology, shrimp phylogeny, to in the end my main interest: medical biology. After my studies I worked for about 13 years in a biotechnology company focused on the development of a viral gene therapy vector against various diseases, lots of cloning and cell culturing.
