Dr. Kirsten Canté-Barrett

Postdoctoral researcher
Dr.

Within immunology, my passion is the developmental processes of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and in particular the development of thymocytes into mature T cells. In addition, my continuing research interests include seeking to understand what goes wrong during T cell development in hematological malignancies such as T cell leukemia and lymphoma. After my degree from Utrecht University I went to live in the United States, where I obtained my PhD from Stanford University in 2007. While my PhD concerned healthy T cell development, for many years after that I studied T cell malignancies at ErasmusMC in Rotterdam and since 2016 at the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology in Utrecht. As of 2020, I am happy and proud to have joined the forces of Frank Staal’s team as a senior researcher.
