RESEARCH
In January 2018 I started working as a research technician on the immune monitoring project in the group of Prof. dr. Jacques J.M. van Dongen. My work is mainly focused on supporting other ongoing trials with our knowledge of monitoring the entire immune system in blood using flow cytometry. Currently I am involved in the BEAT-COVID study in the LUMC, the RECOMB study together with the group of Prof. dr. Frank Staal, and a clinical trial together with GSK; all monitoring the immune system of patients/donors during a major immune response such as infection, stem cell transplantation, or immune therapy. Recently I have started a new project, trying to monitor the immune system in other fluids, like saliva and tears. This project has some challenges in the collection methods and processing of these fluids that we hope to solve in the near future. Lastly, I was involved in testing possible new flow cytometers for the LUMC-FCF (Flow cytometry Core Facility), comparing multiple different flow cytometers on shared parameters.
CURRICULUM VITAE
I studied Life Science and Technology (BSc) at the University of Applied Sciences Groningen, with a specialization in Medical Diagnostics. During my bachelor’s degree I interned at the University of Wisconsin-Madison at a lab specializing in immune therapy for Neuroblastoma patients. Afterwards I completed the master Oncology Research at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with an internship at the NKI focusing on colon cancer and an internship at the University of Birmingham researching Neuroblastoma immune therapy. In January 2018 I became a member of the Immune Monitoring group of Prof. dr. Jacques J.M. van Dongen as a research technician.
