RESEARCH

My PhD research focuses on the optimization of self-adjuvanted synthetic peptide cancer vaccines. These vaccines combine synthetic peptide based antigens with a Toll-like receptor ligand adjuvant to elicit potent T cell immunity to cancer. I’m investigating the type of T cell response that is elicited upon using different adjuvants in the aforementioned vaccines, as well as the safety and efficacy of these vaccines both in vitro and in vivo in mice. This will allow me to optimize the most potent synthetic peptide conjugate for cancer therapy.

CURRICULUM VITAE

I followed my Bachelor degree program in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California Berkeley, in the United States. I then obtained my Master degree in Medical Biology at the Radboud University in the Netherlands. During my studies, I completed several internships working in oncology and immunology. For my Master thesis, I focused on developing 3D culture systems to test cancer specific bispecific antibodies. I started my PhD in December 2020 as part of the Institute of Chemical Immunology in the group of Ferry Ossendorp.
