Research technician

In June 2018, I obtained my BASc from the University of Applied Science Leiden, with a specialisation in microbiology. I performed my internship at the Department of Experimental Hematology in the LUMC, titled “Validation of RNAseq as single technology for genetic diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia”. Here I mainly used techniques such as RT-PCR and Sanger Sequencing. After graduating, I worked at Janssen Biologics as a quality control technician for about two years, where I gained a lot of experience in GMP and techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, UPLC and LC-MS. I returned to the LUMC in 2020, at the Department of Immunology in the Immune Monitoring group of Prof. dr. Jacques van Dongen, where I worked on the immune monitoring of Covid-19 patients with use of flow cytometry. After a year, I switched to the Department of Internal Medicine, where I worked on the culturing of Tolerogenic Dendritic Cells in the cleanroom, for the purpose of setting up a treatment for Diabetes type 1 patients. Per March 2023, I switched back to the Department of Immunology in the Stem Cells and Lymphocyte Development group of Prof. dr. Frank Staal, where I will continue to work in the cleanroom, for the gene therapy clinical trial RAG1-SCID project, and for hopefully more treatment trials in the future.
