Prof. Els Goulmy is internationally renowned for her groundbreaking work in human minor histocompatibility antigens and their role in transplantation and cancer immunotherapy. She served as Professor of Transplantation Biology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), where she led pioneering research that identified the first human minor histocompatibility antigens. Her discoveries have had a profound impact on the fields of stem cell transplantation and tumor immunology, opening new avenues for targeted immunotherapy. Prof. Goulmy was a strong advocate for translational research and interdisciplinary collaboration and was one of the founders of the Dutch Network of Women Professors. Her scientific achievements have been recognized with numerous awards including the prestigious Spinoza award, and her legacy continues to shape the future of immunogenetics and personalized medicine.
