Research technician

As a research technician in the Salerno group I investigates how the tumor microenvironment shapes CD4 T cell differentiation and effector function. For this, I combine in vivo mouse models with in vitro culture systems and molecular biology approaches to advance our understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that derail CD4 T cell functionality in cancer.
After completing my laboratory college education at the ROC Leiden, where I was trained as biotechnician (niveau 4), I studied Biomedical Science at the Hogeschool Leiden. During this period, I performed a 9 month internship in the group of dr. Bruno Guigas at the Department of Parasitology (LUMC), where I studied the effect of different diets on diabetes and developed my interest in immunology. I obtained my Bachelor degree in 2022, and soon after I joined the Department of Immunology (LUMC) as a research technician under the supervision of Prof. Ferry Ossendorp. In the Ossendorp group, I learned how to implement in vitro and in vivo models to study the effect of vaccines and cancer on the immune system. Since April 2025, I am a research technician in the group of Dr. Fiamma Salerno.
