This prestigious triennial prize, established by the Josephine Nefkens Foundation and Erasmus University Rotterdam, recognizes exceptional contributions to cancer research and includes a €100,000 research grant to further advance innovative studies in the field.

The ceremony took place at Rotterdam City Hall, following Prof. de Visser’s symposium “Tumor-Immune Cell Crosstalk: From Bench to Bedside.” The jury praised her as a global leader in tumor immunology and “an inspiring role model who combines scientific excellence with humility and approachability.”

Prof. de Visser said she was “deeply honored” by the recognition and emphasized that the award will help her team uncover how tumor cells evade immune surveillance during metastasis, a key step toward improving cancer treatment outcomes.

The IMMU department warmly congratulates Prof. de Visser on this well-deserved honor.
