In addition, the current high standard of the university education in the Leiden University Medical Center was discussed, as well as the push to maintain a good educational system in the Netherlands from primary school until University. In a full Academy Building Prof. Trouw enthusiastically explained his efforts to set up the Complement Center Leiden, as a hub for LUMC-based fundamental, translational and clinical work focused on complement.
The speech was uniformly deemed inspirational and left the exceptionally large audience of colleagues, students, friends and family in a very enthusiastic and energetic mood. A true testimony to the many contributions of Prof. Trouw in teaching, research and the organization thereof within and outside of Leiden University.
